Doge. Every detail, a meticulous study.
Born to be comfortable, it is characterized by the balance of shapes that are soft and linear, round, and straight, impressive, and hovered.
The main authority in Venice in the late 1600s, the Doge was easily recognizible by his headgear called “corno ducale”: a hat characterized by soft shapes in the upper part and more linear shapes in the lower part and near the ears.
Italia Lounge has designed the Doge sofa in order to develop a model with a regal comfort and a diplomatic elegance.
Cozy seat cushions with generous shapes are perfectly balanced by massive back cushions that were developed to express the ideal comfort in a relaxed shape. The double density foam is shaped to give support to the lumbar band and a soft welcome to the backbone. Functionally, the horizontal stitching defines the two areas of the cushion and marks the aesthetic line, by tracing the horizon of the armrest. The back of the cushion is supported by a roll that makes the sofa even more adaptable.
The armrest, visually solid, conveys this effect to the sofa, by wrapping the seat for the whole length. Its trapezoidal shape provides a taste of modernity thanks to the curve of the profile line, cleverly designed also by the frame of the seat.
But Doge’s modernity is mostly underlined by the study of the foot: designed by our interior designers, this metal blade sums up the balance of the shapes of the model by unifying lines and angles to more soft curves, symmetries and perspectives. A foot/ which is able to celebrate the sofa by lifting it up, either in fabric or leather. A sofa that is suitable for wide compositions and is capable of creating fluid and well-balanced spaces.
[ In the images above it is presented with upholstery in Vega Nebbia leather, Bembo Latte fabric and Foscari Ottanio fabric. ]
